Although test scores dropped as expected in the first year of stricter standards, Davie County Schools continued to perform well when compared to other school districts. The 2012-13 school year was the first year of new curriculum across all grade levels in North Carolina, which led to all new tests, as well as higher standards to meet proficiency on those tests. Pinebrook Elementary School will be under new leadership when Principal Joy Morrison retires at the end of December. Beginning January 2, 2014, Brooke Preslar will be taking the lead as principal. A smooth transition is expected for students and staff, as Mrs. Preslar has been serving as assistant principal at Pinebrook since August 2012.
